José Carlos Caldeira

Biographical note

José Carlos Caldeira is a Consultant to the Presidency of INESC TEC.
He is a member of the High Level Group of the MANUFUTURE Technology Platform and Chairman of its Implementation Support Group.
He is a member of the Board of EFFRA – European Factories of the Future Research Organization.
He is a guest associate professor at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Porto and the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences at the NOVA University of Lisbon.
Between 2018 and 2023, he was Administrator of PRODUTECH – Production Technologies Hub.
Between October 2014 and January 2018, he was President of ANI – National Innovation Agency, during which time he was responsible for the national smart spatialization strategy and coordination with regional smart specialization strategies.
He was also a RIS3 expert at DG REGIO and the JRC, and during that period he developed several works at national and European level, namely supporting the development of a smart specialization strategy for the Spanish region of Galicia.
He is a specialist in technology valorization and transfer, having participated as responsible and/or collaborator in the elaboration, development and implementation of more than 70 R&D and Innovation projects, which benefited from national or community financing, covering companies and institutions in the metalworking, textile and clothing, footwear, wood and furniture, cork, automobiles, die-casting and agri-food, among others.
